Hello! My name is Tara Atwood and I am an Entrepreneur. My entrepreneurial passion includes:
Wellness Entrepreneurship: Harnessing the Power of the Mind-Body through Meditation + Yoga Teacher and Sound Therapy.
Co-founder of Amber Blue, a plant-based aromatherapy and skincare brand.
Social Entrepreneurship: I am currently the Senior Program Manager at District Hall and Roxbury Innovation Center in Boston, MA. My passion lies in contributing to the commitment of mission-based work and the growing success of the entrepreneurial community in Boston and around the world.
My journey into wellness began after a 13-year stint in NYC an where I worked in Corporate Finance. The NYC lifestyle is pretty fast-paced and with the lack of work-life balance my body became worn down and ultimately the stress manifested into a brain tumor. So I did what any normal 30-something year old would do, I left my career and relationship behind, went to Business School full-time and after I graduated moved to India; the mecca of yoga, meditation and sound in search for a holistic approach to healing my mind, body and soul. Ultimately, I fell in love with alternative wellness and saw the benefits of incorporating mind-body wellness techniques into the everyday Western life.
I obtained certifications in Yoga, Meditation and Sound Therapy while living in Asia and I have trained under the teachings of Thích Nhất Hạnh at Plum Village in France and S. N. Goenka Vipassana Meditation Training in Italy. Learn more about my education and certifications here.
I have taken my passion around the world sharing the Power of the MInd through Meditation, Mindfulness, Yoga and Sound; 3 continents, 27+ countries and counting. I have conducted classes, workshops, trainings and retreats in America and countries throughout Asia and Europe.
I received my M.B.A. from Baruch College Zicklin School of Business with a focus in Management, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability and I have a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in English and Philosophy. I am also certified in Food, Nutrition, and Health.
In addition to my wellness experience, I also have vital experience working with the Chief Executive Suite, having spent a decade with Time Warner Cable on their Investor Relations team overseeing a $67-billion company merger; one of the largest media mergers in U.S. history.
In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering, writing, reading, traveling, sailing, yoga, meditation, biking, skiing, kayaking, hiking and scuba diving. After living in India and Italy, I have decided to plant myself in good ole' Boston, Mass.
Love + Light,
